My name is Sofía Muñiz George, a Puerto Rican 2D/3D artist currently based in New York City.

My journey into animation began with my grandmother, Margarita Iguina Bravo, an author who has written and published nine books, including Las Aventuras de Kirilo: En busca de una Estrella. Her stories and creativity inspired me to pursue animation at the Savannah College of Art and Design, where I studied Storytelling and Concept Development. During my time at SCAD, I pitched and directed Kirilo, a short film adaptation inspired by her work.

Today, I’m contributing as a 2D Cleanup Artist for the LALIFF Inclusion Fellowship animated film “Mágica Magia Mía” at Blue Sketchy Studios. Previously worked as a Character Designer and 2D Cleanup Artist for the LALIFF Inclusion Fellowship animated film “The Resilient Coquí” at Cleos Studios. I also work as a freelance artist and am the creator of El Juey Azul, an independent art brand where I bring my original characters and stories to life through merchandise and art events.

Whether I’m designing characters, developing stories, or creating something of my own, I’m passionate about using art to tell meaningful stories, celebrate my Puerto Rican culture, and create characters that connect with others.
